Christopher Pegis Artistic Director
Christopher Pegis, cellist, is founder and Artistic Director of Amici Chamber Players. Mr. Pegis has recorded on the Scarlet and Centaur labels, recording the Cello Sonata and the complete chamber works of Soulima Stravinsky.
Born in Rochester, New York, Mr. Pegis attended the Eastman School of Music where he studied with Robert Sylvester. Other mentors include Lynn Harrell, Orlando Cole, Allan Harris, David Finckel, and David Wells. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the "Concert Atlantique International Debut" (Geneva, Switzerland), McGraw Hill Young Artist Showcase in New York, and first prize in the Music Teacher's National Association Competition. He has performed as a guest with the Emerson String Quartet and has participated in numerous festivals including the Ravinia Festival, Yellow Barn Music Festival, and Scotia Chamber Players as well as the Sarasota Music Festival.
